We’re supposed to think “he (the journalist) is so bad and evil he hacked into the secure platform” — not that that helps their case either.

When you have poor insulation then the colder it gets the higher you want to set your thermostat because the indoor temperature reading won’t be as accurate since your exterior walls are leaking.

Additionally, we like to open our doors when it’s warm enough outside but also sometimes when it’s freezing cold. Using inputs from the door sensors, outdoor temperature and indoor temperature I can automate fans and switching off heaters.

Love that all you random fucks assume I’m a moron, thanks for that. Can’t get enough of the dumbass hivemind logic on Lemmy.

I’ve never liked earbuds but I’ve thought about picking some up recently due to my recent obsession with podcasts (wearing huge over ear headphones just for podcasts feels silly).

Do you have any recommendations? Initially I wanted AirPods (for the convenience) but the audio quality is just awful. I was actually looking at some Audio-Technica ones recently.

Audio-Technica headphones. My first pair was the ATH-M50, and despite being an Apple fanatic I still think AirPods (and Beats before) sound like trash.

I used to be on that level but when I went vegan I switched to Veganaise. It turns out that it’s leaps and bounds better than Hellman’s.

I might be biased as a vegan, but what is sooooo fucking critical about having eggs that has people this worked up? I think even without being vegan I’d uh, I don’t know… not buy them??

I swear to God you can hear all the grease caked inside his body when he speaks. That wheezing, wandering, droning voice has had a few too many Big Macs.

I do exactly what you’re wanting with a smart thermostat integrated with Home Assistant. Because my old, horrible apartment is poorly insulated I have everything automated based on indoor/outdoor temps.

Honestly you’re just going to have to stop. It’ll suck at first but after 1-2 weeks it should be easy, and from there you won’t even want soda anymore.

It’s faster? For me it’s a lot faster to hit the share sheet and send a URL than it is to screw around with a screenshot (which is also larger and takes longer to send when using a slow VPN).

As a web developer it’s when people want me to code ridiculous things because they don’t know how to use files, their OS or their web browser.

Recently someone complained to me that they’d like a dropdown to be sorted a very specific way (rather than alphabetical) because it’s “too hard” to scroll through the undesired options. They don’t realize that by doing that you would no longer be able to correctly tab into the field then type the first few letters of the desired option.

Or another user who reported that emailing documents wasn’t working because he could no longer email them to himself through the website. He could’ve simply downloaded the document using another link (right next to the email sending link) but refused to do so because he doesn’t know how to handle the file after downloading.

People who take a screenshot instead of sending a link. I don’t want to see your crusty shitphone or Windows UI, thank you very much.

Or, as a web developer: users who take a screenshot of a problem but completely exclude the URL and/or any other identifier I’d need to actually find the relevant record(s) so I can hope to reproduce the problem and find its cause.

I have a complex Tailscale-based network setup that includes blocking all Google hostnames. Unfortunately RCS on iOS doesn’t work when sending photos.

I’d like to set up a Tailscale App Connector using hostnames, but if they’re using IP addresses I can work with those as well (subnet routing).

I’ve scoured AT&T’s website and App Privacy Report on iOS (which doesn’t show DNS names for Messages, Phone apps) but I do know they switched to Google as their RCS provider at one point.

Update: Resolved by allowlisting rcs-copper-us.googleapis.com specifically, but I also added all of telephony.goog to unblock rcs.telephony.goog. A simple tcpdump got me the DNS requests for those domains.
