Donald Trump's Justice Department is under fire by a federal judge after uncovering "multiple employees ... may have violated" local rules guaranteeing a right to a fair trial for so-called "healthcare shooter" Luigi Mangione.

U.S. District Court Judge Margaret Garnett wrote on Wednesday that Mangione documented several incidents in which members of the Southern District of New York made public statements that are in violation of Criminal Rule 23.1.

The judge shredded the DOJ, saying that she issued an order on "April 25, 2025, specifically identifying the strictures of this rule for counsel and directing the prosecution team to ensure that the highest levels of the Department of Justice, up to and including Attorney General Bondi, were aware of and understood they were bound by this Rule."

A new psychological study has found that people who report favorable views of Donald Trump also tend to score higher on measures of callousness, manipulation, and other malevolent traits—and lower on empathy and compassion. The findings, based on two large surveys of U.S. adults, shed light on how personality traits relate to political beliefs, including support for Trump and conservative ideology. The research was recently published in the Journal of Research in Personality.

A former employee of the Department of Government Efficiency says that he found that the federal waste, fraud and abuse that his agency was supposed to uncover were "relatively nonexistent" during his short time embedded within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

"I personally was pretty surprised, actually, at how efficient the government was," Sahil Lavingia told NPR's Juana Summers.

Lavingia was a successful software developer and the founder of Gumroad, a platform for online sales, when he joined DOGE in March. Lavingia said he had previously sought to work for the U.S. Digital Service, the technology unit that was renamed and restructured by the Trump administration. He told NPR that he just wanted to make government websites easier for citizens to use and didn't really care which presidential administration he was working for, despite protests from his friends and family.

"This is not the Trump of 2015, nor is he the Trump of 2020. He's not even the Trump of 2024."

The chance of exceeding the 1.5 degree benchmark of limiting global warming stands at 70%, the UN's weather agency says.

The chance that average warming from 2025 to 2029 is to exceed the 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) benchmark stands at 70%, the United Nations (UN) said.

As a result, the Earth is expected to remain at historic levels of warming.

This comes after the planet experienced the two hottest years ever recorded in 2023 and 2024, according to a report published by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the UN's climate agency.
