They should have given him the chance to compete to the end in 2016 rather than forcing him to step down. But they would rather watch America's standing as a democratic republic crumble than see an administration where corporations make any less money.

My wife voted for Hillary over Bernie in the 2016 primaries because she was a woman. No other reason. I was furious.

There is simply no way the powers that be would've allowed it. They allow him his "platform" because it effectively rounds people they might deem "interesting" up so they can better surveil them. If there was ever a real chance of him getting closer to power he would've been JFK'd immediately. I'm still not convinced that isn't the plan for AOC, but ofc I hope I'm wrong.
