Becoming a furry just to get in a line of work is like changing religion for the community support

Child care is expensive - church offers that.

yeah, pedophilia, indoctrination, cult based on lies, and shame culture that is based on lies and falsehoods. probably more. but child care is so expensive.

Depends how good you are at playing the part, without actually doing any of the bad stuff. Churches vary, but often, it's one of those places where the tribal symbols are more important than actual substance, so taking advantage is very possible.

See: Whatever super-rich televangelist. If you're doing something similar, because you're poor and can't afford childcare, there's an argument that's not even bad, then.

Edit: Although, if OP means Sunday school or youth group specifically, the kids are going to be exposed to some shit, which you'll have to manage. An adult telling you you're going to burn alive, and that's good, isn't really fun for an 8-year-old.

They all indoctrinate children, and while you did comment on that shared tradition later, it's worth highlighting as unavoidable —not to mention heinous as it attacks the unarmed and generally trusting minds of children. 😢

Yeah, I'm not actually sure what OP meant, now. If your kid's in Sunday school, aren't you going to be spending time in the service, anyway? I guess if you just dropped them and ran, it'd be hard for them to say no.

Maybe you could get away with that when they're really little. Once they're school aged, leaving them unsupervised would be better than in the hands of whatever bunch of church ladies, and the Catholic church has a whole other layer of reputation.

From their perspective, we're the ones trying to hide our children from ideas that are correct and vital, so they can justify it to themselves. Trying to defend the standard, evangelical version of hell is harder, which is why it's good to bring up.
