Since a few people in the thread seem to think lead ammunition is illegal in the US, it’s not. It’s only illegal for shooting waterfowl nationwide, and entirely banned in the state of California.

    it would be weird if a historically common ammo type was illegal for a reason as silly as health, that would be like making using leaded gasoline illegal

    I think the irony would be in legislating the material bullets are made of because of health concerns. The purpose of a bullet is to kill.

    And not to harm the person shooting it. Lead does that.

    The receiver, not the owner. And also it doesn't kill him but turns him dumb. But you'll also breath vaporized lead in, washing does little to prevent that.
