Isn't steam kind of web based and so always a bit slow because of that ? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago I guess I can't really relate. Games usually launch within 3-5 seconds for me. Sometimes it can take longer when it has to do whatever it does with vulkan shaders, but that's usually only first time launches or after some updates. permalink fedilink source parent [–] EtzBetz@feddit.org 3 points 3 days ago No. The update process can be a tad bit slow sometimes, but the as actual usage etc. is very fine. Epic Games on the other hand I had countless times of installing or just starting where it would just ramp up system resources and wouldn't get going. permalink fedilink source parent [–] cmnybo@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 3 days ago Steam is significantly slower to open that Heroic or Lutris. permalink fedilink source parent [–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago Not for me. permalink fedilink source parent [–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago Sometimes big picture but I only use it for like 10 seconds then launch my game. permalink fedilink source parent [–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago On my old pc it take about 30 second from PC finished booting to launching Steam in Big Picture, not sure what happened because on my new PC it just launched within second. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago Wish it was faster sure. permalink fedilink source parent [–] esc@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago I do, but there is an issue with lauchers in general.
