You can dev as long as you like, doesnt make you good at using a new tool by default. Its a tool, it works for millions of people. Why do you think you're special.

I have to do the PRs for the rest of my team in india who are just using claude all day. That's what my job turned into. A month ago I was writing code for features, today i'm watching the offshore team produce shit ai. Every person on my team left or was let go, and no replacements. Management literally told us no one is writing code anymore, and if they do, it will be tweaking claude output.

That seems like the worse of both worlds. About 95% of my code nowadays is agent-generated, but it's based on my input, because I'm the fucking expert. Outsourcing the work just turns it into the same "garbage in, garbage out" process that outsourcing always does.

"Real developer who has done assembly every day for ten years now. Compilers are shit. It's bad"

Exactly. I've done "real programming" for four decades; early in my career I was writing assembler and regularly having to review compilers' output because it was shit.

I do not still do that. You adapt and move with the times, or you find a new career.

The ones complaining now are mainly the people who thought "cutting and pasting stuff from Stack Overflow without ever understanding it" was skilled labour.
