    It's not a line. I need a combination of multiple sources in order to properly sus out the truth. There is independent journalism. That exists. I don't know if it exists in North Korea, which is why I'm asking for a source to add to my rss feed. Nobody has given me one yet. All I want is a news source so I can stop getting my information from the imperial core, and no one has given me one yet.

    In that case, you're going to be extremely limited. There's plenty of YouTube videos like this one from Boy Boy, but that's going to be the limit if you want neither corporations nor governments. Media is gatekept globally behind deals and limited access.

    How can that be possible? There are plenty of news sources here that aren't backed by corporations nor governments. Obviously we have a problem with bias in media globally, but it's not ALL media. I'm more looking for the North Korean equivalent of, like, Counterpunch, Common Dreams, Real News Network, or hell, even Democracy Now.

    Those are all linked with corporations, though, with few exceptions. The DPRK has a planned economy, the means of production and distribution are socially owned. Thus, "independence" is in reality private ownership. Your decision to distrust socially owned media is more of a personal choice, but there's a lot to learn from it.

    It's not a distrust of socially owned media, it's a distrust of states. I don't trust any government to give me facts about what's happening in their own country. In a place where people are allowed to independently investigate and publish their own findings or even their own opinions, I can at get an idea of how a variety of common folks I've and feel within their systems. I can't find a source like that for DPRK

    Why don't you trust working people to honestly report on their own system? Again, "independence" in this case means "private." You can listen to common people already, that's what socially owned news does, and you can listen to people on the street in videos like the one I linked. You've claimed a point, but I don't see the logical basis for it other than a generic distrust for organizations.

    You can call independent journalism private as an epithet all you want, but I'm still not going to trust North Korean BBC to report truthfully about North Korea the same as I'm not going to trust actual BBC to report truthfully about Britain. States are gonna state.

    The video you linked is a fun watch, but it also starts from a pov assuming that I automatically believe what corporate and state media in the imperial core has told me about the DPRK and I already don't. The first 10 minutes are just talking about the U.S. media talking about NK, then there's less than 1min of footage actually in North Korea, the majority of which is just b-roll, and not a single interview with a Korean, then the rest of the video is just a pretty good discussion about why the kinds of things western countries do and the kinds of things that the DPRK does are just the kinds of things that countries do. Which again, I agree with all of that, but a good discussion.

    What I'm not seeing is any kind of actual North Korean talking about their daily lives, or things they like or dislike about where they live, ways they want to participate, the people in their lives they love, or anything else really.

    Why would you put a capitalist state and socialist state at the same level? The state is not outside class struggle, but is a product of class struggle, meaning it has a definite class character.
