The House Judiciary Committee Democrats have released a trove of evidence regarding allegations of sexual assault, including a new rape allegation, against President Donald Trump in relation to Jeffrey Epstein that the lawmakers say has been deliberately covered up by the Department of Justice. The 50-page report, released Monday, contains testimony from 11 women who either accuse Trump of…

You mean the spoiled rich kid who always had what he wanted with zero regards to legality or morality and only got even more aggressive at it as he grew older, the same guy who was already convicted of rape, the guy who was notoriously friends with and a frequent customer of someone who was organizing human sex trafficking, the guy who is clearly abusing his position of power to shut down any investigation in that matter... you say he might have committed more sexual assaults in his life?

How is this surprising anyone at that point?

the same guy who was already convicted of rape

I absolutely believe he is guilty of rape but Trump has never actually been convicted… yet.

He was found liable for sexual abuse in the E. Jean Carol verdict.

Hopefully he’ll have rape added to his convictions before hanging for treason.

I think you're being pedantic about the wrong word. The judge pretty directly clarified that he was proven guilty of rape. So if you want to be pedantic about the use of "convicted" I think a better phrase to use would be "adjudicated".

The finding that Ms. Carroll failed to prove that she was 'raped' within the meaning of the New York Penal Law does not mean that she failed to prove that Mr. Trump 'raped' her as many people commonly understand the word 'rape,'" Kaplan wrote. "Indeed, as the evidence at trial recounted below makes clear, the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that.

I think you’re being pedantic. I was simply trying to call out that Trump has never faced criminal prosecution for rape, which convicted alludes to, but that he hopefully will soon.

You were being pedantic about convicted vs liable. I was suggest you instead be pedantic about adjudicated vs convicted. I don't trust people to interpret "liable" in earnest in this context. Saying that he is an adjudicated rapist more directly states a judge [in a court of law] declared that he is guilty of rape [after being presented with evidence and testimony, without incorrectly implying that he was convicted of a criminal charge.

You don't need to be a journalist of lawyer to understand the value of precise language

Plenty of people will ignore what you're saying if you make a technical, factual error

Rapist pedophile is a fine phrase to use for the guy. The people splittin hairs or being weird about it are being disingenuous and already made up their mind that the girls are lying to ruin his career. No need to cater to those losers.

Whatever, I’m not going to argue with you about this anymore. You can say adjudicated or liable or guilty, just don’t say convicted because has has yet to face criminal charges. The dozens of victims spanning decades have yet to see justice and see this monster put on trial for his actual crimes of rape and sexual abuse.

Those people he hurt are owed justice which is why I said he hasn’t been convicted yet.

Judge clarifies: Yes, Trump was found to have raped E. Jean Carroll -- The Washington Post, July 19, 2023

A judge has now clarified that this is basically a legal distinction without a real-world difference. He says that what the jury found Trump did was in fact rape, as commonly understood.

“The finding that Ms. Carroll failed to prove that she was ‘raped’ within the meaning of the New York Penal Law does not mean that she failed to prove that Mr. Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape,’ ” Judge Kaplan wrote.

He added: “Indeed, as the evidence at trial recounted below makes clear, the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that.”

Note: the WaPo article I just quoted is footnoted in the actual Committee report the above Truthout article is about (page 4). Even the Committee report doesn't mince words. It was rape.

And that's what the jury found when it convicted Trump, according to the judge.

And that's what the jury found when it convicted Trump

Might want to work on your reading comprehension. I have no doubt Trump raped E. Jean Carol, but what conviction? What criminal trial has Trump faced for any of his sex crimes?

The legal definition of the word convict is to find guilty of a crime after a trial. The common definition of the word is the same. The difference is not in the word, as you are so convinced, but in the type of trial: civil trials are by definition not trials of crime but fault and liability. The civil jury convicted Trump.

You did not say a single word about a criminal trial in the comment to which I responded.

In the words of an esteemed judge who knows far more than you (and certainly more than me) about crime, the law, and what the word convict means when properly used in a sentence, and who made that specific distinction himself, the civil jury convicted Trump.

I think you're finding out just whose comprehension is truly lacking -- and it's not everyone else's.
