Justice department had demanded state segregate and not count ballots from people it claimed were non-citizens

A federal judge declined to order California election officials to segregate and not count ballots from people the Trump administration claimed were non-citizens, rebuffing a legally thin request from the justice department that appeared designed to cast doubt over the results of the midterms.

The ruling from US district judge David Carter, nominated to the federal bench by Bill Clinton, comes about two weeks after the justice department delivered a USB drive to election officials in Los Angeles and Sacramento that it said contained the names of 20,000 non-citizens on the state’s voter rolls. There are more than 23 million registered voters in California and non-citizen voting is extremely rare.

“This case is about the right of every American citizen to vote in a free and fair election,” Carter wrote in his Wednesday evening ruling. “Never before in American history has the federal government, on the eve of an election, sought to coerce a state and local government to abandon their own Constitutional elections procedures and bend to the will of the Executive Branch.”

You really gotta hand it to the pedophile for being the most transparent president ever... transparently criminal.

By this standard I think voting ought to be a privilege; whereas you must pass a simple cognitive test to be able to vote. Set aside all the illegal votes from the citizens with room temperature IQ. Republicans would never win again. All is fair, right?

No goddamnit, that's no better than. Seeking to disenfranchise any citizen from voting makes you just like them. But maybe you don't want fair. You just want it your way. That's not how democracy works. EVERY citizen of voting age should be able to vote. EVERY. Even if they are in prison, because many are only there over bullshit drug charges. Some are innocent. Furthermore, your proposal would do even more to disenfranchise undereducated people of color from districts with poor school funding. Shame on you.

This kind of response is exactly what I was looking for and how EVERYONE should respond to how the current admin is acting. Just reflecting the absurdity of it all, I don't actually feel this way! Thank you.

I agree with your sentiment completely, but why are you so pointed and shaming the person. They may have not thought about the issue from this perspective. You're less likely to convince people to your frame of thinking if you immediately shame them.
