I genuinely don't understand the obsession. I don't miss having a cord on my headphones even a little bit.

"The obsession" is having devices that I don't have to worry about charging or wireless protocols or interference, or fucking apps. You just plug it in, and it works, in HD, every fucking time .

FWIW I've exclusively used wireless buds and over-ears for years now and none of those things has ever been an issue for me.

For charging, I take five seconds at the end of the day to check the charge and plug them in overnight if necessary. I've never once had to think about wireless protocols. I've had to re-pair them a literal handful of times. I've never had to use a dedicated app.

Are there trade-offs? Yes, absolutely. But for me, none of them come close to rivalling the massive inconvenience of having your head physically tethered to another device. Being freed from the cord outweighs every other consideration by an order of magnitude.

None of that matters, because guess what? We used to have both, and you didn't have to choose. Wow how the corporations seem to have erased everyone's memory...

If those things don't matter, why'd you list them as complaints?

Frankly, I don't buy this particular issue as "choice being taken away from us," I see it as obsolete technology falling by the wayside. As far as I'm concerned the freedom from having your head physically tethered to some other device outweighs any of the concerns anyone's brought up, so why would I be upset about losing the "choice" to use an objectively worse option?

It matters because they took away the choice. Please pay attention.

It is not worse technology, it is in many ways superior technology, which I have already explained. Just because you don't care for it or feel the need to lie about it doesn't make it obsolete.

Every OEM that removed headphone jacks simultaneously introduced $250+ Bluetooth headphones. If you can't recognize that as proof of their real motivations, you need to get your head outta the sand.
