If you look up "rugged phones" theres quite a large selection of chinese branded phones that have all the bells and whistles you can think of. Ulefone, 8849, Dogee are some of the brands. Ive owned an Ulefone Armor 26 and now an 8849 Tank 5. Both have been great on Tmobile in the US. Headphone jack, waterproof, IR blaster, 120w charging, 17,000mah battery, reverse charging, OLED screens, dual physical sim + esim. My Ulefone had a walkee talkee functionality and a massive speaker. My current Tank 5 has a 1080p projector built in.

Downsides is that you'd probably have some Chinese spyware or something, updates are few and far between and basically never any OS version upgrades so whatever version of android it ships with is what itll always be. Also it uses Mediatek processors instead of Snapdragon. So while good, they're not TOP of the line.

Yeah it's weird, the second you leave flagship phones there's actually tons of options with headphone jacks and expendable storage, but somehow everyone got it in their head that they NEED a flagship android or an iPhone.

I have yet to buy a phone without both expandable storage and a headphone jack. My phone is not old, it's just middle range instead of top of the line.

They aren't going to shove these phones in your face the same way they do flagships, but they're still being made. Do people really need the very minimal upgrades that cameras, storage, ram, and processing power get generation over generation? I don't. I have real cameras that are better and cheaper than an iPhone. I don't do much that requires a strong processor or more ram, those things happen on my computer. I honestly bet there's tons of other people with similar needs that just aren't aware that non flagship phones with different features even exist.

Oh yeah, definitely another down side, it weighs 1.5lbs. I'm used to giant phones though. Even before when I used Samsung I would throw on a 10,000mah zerolemon battery case onto them. I would travel a ton for work, so a big battery life was really useful. I just have to make sure I wear a belt lol.
