Three different advocacy organisations representing military families said they had heard from dozens of affected service members who expressed discomfort about being drawn into a domestic policing operation outside their normal field of operations. Appallingly ignorant in what way? Don't project your bootlicking guilt on me. If you have something useful to contribute then do so. Otherwise, your comment only tells me you'd be one of the first slave drivers constantly salivating for more boot.

They're being ordered to do these things? No National guardsman wants to do domestic stuff. It's not like this is a disaster relief operation. They're being used as pawns in domestic politics. Something that they are trained to stay out of.

Again, no one is making them do it. There are options for early separation & plenty of external medical/mental providers that would support their claims.

No, this is what they are trained to do as well. National Guard is trained to assist in law enforcement support & maintaining peace. I really don't know why you think they are only trained for disaster relief, when it is obviously not true.
