"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

You're imagining a change to the power structure of the world without having to fight and die for it. It has never worked like that.

The 8 hour day was the result of strikes that involved the strikers getting beaten and killed by the police.

Deepseek gives these examples of instances where socialist policies were implemented without violence:

  • UK NHS (1948): Passed via parliamentary consensus post-WWII. No fighting.
  • German Pensions (1889): Enacted by Bismarck as top-down reform. No violence.
  • US Social Security (1935): Passed via legislation.
  • Nordic Childcare: Expanded gradually via labor unions and coalitions.

I'm not saying that pacifist solutions are faster or more effective, but I don't want anyone I know to to kill or be killed. It is possible to change the world without starting generations-long, unforgivable blood fueds.
