— 🇺🇸/🇮🇷 NEW: Sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln are experiencing a mental health crisis, with some sailors trying to jump overboard, per The Guardian
The aircraft carrier has been deployed at sea for more than 250 consecutive days—over 9 months in total—without making land, due to the ongoing war with Iran.
Families of the 5000 sailors are raising the alarm, saying that conditions aboard are ‘hellish’, with almost daily attacks, dwindling supplies, and limited rations.
One spouse of a sailor said that her husband had texted her one day saying ‘he hopes he doesn’t wake up tomorrow’. Various suicide attempts have been thwarted, and U.S. CENTCOM commanders warn of an impending mutiny if conditions about the ship don’t change for the better.
