Haven't read the article but they just added a 770MB update to the 26KB original download and now the game reportedly works.

"Nice job dev team, now enjoy your vacation because you're all fired."

"Wait no shit come back and fix this!"

Wow. When I read the headline I thought it had to be an exaggeration or complaint about poor game quality. Nope, literally forgot to add it.

A friend of mine until recently worked for their department that also did risk planning and mitigation. Until they were all let go.

So they basically prepared for stuff like this, and now they're gone, and hey, now not even this basic shit works. Well done, Ubisoft.

Hurray! Minimal effort has been achieved!

What on Earth is with the system requirements for this game? It requires a gigabyte of space? Heroes of Might and Magic 3? How's that possible? Judging from the pictures it is not updated or remastered or anything.

It came on a CD, which is max about 700MB; that could easily unpack to a gigabyte.

I think I remember its demo being around a 20MB download (for sure under 100) so the full version was probably way less than a whole CD

I'm seeing an 848 MB split rar archive in at least one torrent for "complete" edition.

This is an 18 year old torrent too, that's not the remastered version which is more like 3 GB.

PCGamingWiki does show 425 MB in the requirements, but that's likely without the expansions.

Maybe I am confusing it for II

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 22 points 1 day ago

It'll be 700MB of electron based emulation to run it.

The game to not be as large, I assume

I get that, but based on what? 1GB unpacked seems reasonable for a 1999 game that was likely distributed on CDs. Not at all surprising.
