I Hate Western Philosophy (lemmygrad.ml)

I am learning the business side of western philosophy for a college class and I can already tell I hate Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill, and basically every Greek philosopher.

Edit: To clarify things, I do not hate all of Western philosophy like Karl Marx just the more mainstream parts which are being taught in American academia.

This is a vent post and I was using hyperbole and being dramatic. I am sorry for the confusion.

I hope you have an instructor who doesn't give you low marks for not giving "in the box" answers on essay questions. I was failing about a quarter through, and I finally asked "the smart kid," with whom I regularly explored philosophy and religions, among other things, how he was doing so well. Luckily he told me she wanted textbook answers, so I pulled it up to a B. Otherwise, I enjoyed it.

    The class does not seem hard as it is business ethics. The philosophy part being a major part of it. This is the closest I will have to do a philosophy class.

    Since I am in journalism, I have to take mass communication classes, this is a public relations class, I am taking as an elective and is the last class I have to take to graduate with a masters.

    We are reading a textbook where the author believes that ethics and ethical boards in companies will help fix capitalism and corporate scandals although he does say we need government intervention as well. He begins with trying to dismiss "the myth" that business it itself amoral and later on tries to explain why capitalism is moral. Between that he covers western philosophy and how it can be used by companies and business. He is not a good author he will over example the simple stuff and will use confusing language to example the definitions of important words.

    This is the most pro-bussiness and pro-capitalist class I have taken. I have received some of that in a mass communication I took on media management, but never to this degree.

    I mean business is amoral, but certainly can be practiced in moral (planning and providing production around people's real needs with perhaps small surplus in case of unforeseen events, like climate disasters, fire, etc), *and immoral ways (extract wealth to the point I live lavishly and you end up in a death camp providing free labor due to homelessness). Odd that they think capitalism is moral, but only because I see from different perspectives than how I was conditioned. I suspect it has to do with income incentive, beyond wanting to pay for education, publishing/editors, plus enough to sustain a modest lifestyle.

    Try searching "net worth + author's name," and "author + background and education. (I suspect search engines will soon make this capability impossible, soon).
