The Borg have blasters of their own, so it's not much of a fight unless the Federation recruits some Jedi.

Even then, the general "solution" to the Borg is to outsmart them or exploit a weakness. So many of the Borg end-games tend to be some combination of computer virus and propaganda counter-programming, turning their habit of assimilation against them.

If you're fighting them straight up, you're almost guaranteed to lose.

Up to the end of Voyager, touching a Borg drone is basically instant assimilation. So melee weapons are out.

In Star Trek Online, I do use swords against the Borg!
