I also realize that this is done by not taking inspiration from material reality, i.e. the real world that people live in. Fiction also greatly suffers as people take more inspiration from fictional worlds already made from other people, instead of the lives they lived. Altho it may be ironic, I still expect the kinds of people to say this to make shitty works of fiction, precisely because they would be basing it off of other fictional works, in a way that is almost plagarism. E.g. a comic based off of Harry Potter instead of Operation Northwoods or the Second Boer War.
