GOS stock camera is abysmal.

it truly, seriously is. I bit the bullet and got Google's camera app which sadly works much better. I just block it from having any network permissions but even then it feels really sketchy. but I'm not going back to the GrapheneOS camera, it's just so fucking miserable.
