Republican U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama and the current GOP nominee for governor of the state targeted trans people in a speech on the Senate floor, spewing transphobia and misinformation. In a tangent, the Republican also seemed to support a conspiracy theory that many flight attendants are furries.

The lawmaker accused trans people of violence and even proposed that they should be put in mental health facilities as he stood beside a poster with a pregnant man emoji with “transgederism is a mental disease” on the top.

Well I don't know about this "trans people are mentally ill" business. Not sure he's made a compelling case there.

Have to admit: he's convincing me that transphobes might be mentally ill, though.

My aunt is transphobic and I'm very convinced she's mentally ill. She's completely incoherent and doesn't understand why I think she's transphobic for saying that transgender people are shooting up schools, trying to depopulate the earth, and chopping off six-year-old's penises. She also doesn't understand why saying that medicine is a big government conspiracy is offensive to my sister, who is a doctor.
