I spend a good bit of time reading, listening to and engaging with DC-based policy and strategy content for professional reasons. Wars, invasions, military action, sanctions action etc all tend to be openly discussed long before anything happens. There is zero discussion of invading Canada. None. Nobody in policy or strategy among the big influences with money behind them in DC that shape US interests believes this is a US plan. They really don't think of Canada much. Even the trade war is discussed from a US perspective as just a component of the US changing their industrial policy, not as a specific effort to undermine Canada, though we feel it hardest because of the depth of our integration.
