    People talking as though they take pride in their supposed fortitude against the US aren't the kind of people who understand what violence is like to live in by merit of thinking it would be glorious. I'm saying if you're someone who thinks it is a given that Canadians would stomp the US or whatever in a guerilla war, you are welcoming something that you do not understand.

    Violence and war is never glorious, it is a painful, horrific and most terrible thing. However, it has been repeatedly shown to have been unfortunately needed.

    By its very definition no side "stomps" the other in a guerrilla war. The intent is to make the occupier so uncomfortable that they eventually give up. It is a classic example of fourth generation warfare.

    You should read my other comment here on the casual interest in military history and inflated sense of authority with which you guys talk about this. You can't make a comment like you made and then pretend it doesnt underplay the gravity of this possibility; especially after suggesting that, somehow, people in colonized spaces don't have the fighting heart of some of the most privileged settlers in the fucking world.

    Yeah, sure dude, totally, you understand what it is enough to know when it is "needed." Cowardly.

    I would think that a career of over fifteen years in the Canadian Armed Forces after having escaped from a country torn by civil war and genocide might give me some background in the topics of military force, the willingness of the CAF to fight and armed resistance against tyranny, but, as citizens of a (relatively) free country, we are all entitled to our opinions and allowed to voice them.
