I can’t think of any businesses in the USA that I contact by text

It's probably slightly different as an individual to business. I'm speaking solely from my personal experience of b2b working in a service job. Contacts at other companies are numbers and internal employee contact is email or phone. I don't really see this changing until there is a new standard installed on all phones by default.
