Nobody implied that “no one else has them” because that would be dumb. You added that all by yourself. The implication is that Americans are consumed by car culture. It’s very common. Do they not have Americans where you’re from?

Answer the question, and try not to be snippy about it. Where did "jealous" come from? Bringing up highways is useful even in a non-American context, because it's one of the more common experiences where people are crammed together in close proximity, and the split-second safety of everyone depends on things like depth perception.

Tachyon-log implied that was something only an American would do, which leads us to the next part:

"As if no one else has them," is not literal. I apologize if English isn't your first language.

Why else would you misunderstand what you read so badly? If you really do feel sorry about English not being my first language, read the original post again

You wanna point out what you're talking about? Walk me through it.

I am not able to tell you why you misunderstood the post. All I can do (and have done) is explain it to you. Good luck!

No need to tell me why I misunderstood. Just tell me your line of thinking and how you got there. That's how humans communicate ideas. Pretty easy.

Look, I get that you're trolling, it's just... Kind of half-assed.

You’re the one trolling. I can’t be any clearer; you’re insisting on being dumb. You sure you’re not american?

It's really simple. You picked up from a top level comment that someone was claiming that people were jealous of highways, which doesn't match anything in the original comment. Myself and a couple of others have been asking for clarification of what you mean, and you've been avoiding it, claiming that you've already explained it. Now I'm just kind of fascinated by how much you're struggling to avoid explaining your thoughts so that other people can understand them. No one else has insulted you.

It’s really simple. You saw the word “highway” and thought you read that they claimed only Americans have highways. The joke has been explained to you multiple times, but you’re choosing to pretend it didn’t happen. Why would anyone have to insult me when you’re the one making a fool of yourself? Should I be insulting you?

  • I didn't claim anything of the sort. Go back and read, and pay attention to user names. The OP showed a person making an analogy about sharing highways, and another person (tachyon-log) made a comment that only Americans would bring up highways in an example of social and safety standards.

No one has seriously claimed that no one else has highways. Dalekcaan (this sub-thread's OP) then made fun of tachyon-log by pretending to be them, and taking their argument to an absurdist extreme, the joke being that everyone else DOES have highways, and using them as a nationalistic wedge is ridiculous. I'm starting to think you took that comment literally, and not as a satire on the whole "only americans think of highways" bit? It's fine if you did, but you've been strangely combative about all this, when it's pretty easy to just talk calmly and clear up misconceptions.
