That was disturbing news to Angelica Jadunandan, who moved to New York from Florida with her two young daughters three years ago. Her older daughter, who is eight, is transgender, and Angelica wanted to move them to a safe blue state—somewhere her family’s medical care would not be called into question. New York is a self-declared “sanctuary state” for trans people. It seemed like a good option.

You've got three options for hospitals: Religious, corporate, university.

The first one is highly unlikely to offer such services. The second won't want to "get political" and affect their share price,and they're working hard to buy up everyone else. University hospitals are few and only in big cities.

    University hospitals are the best that exist. First rate researchers teaching the new generation of physicians.

    Most are. There are a few (no names) with not great efficiencies.

    Or at worst not great MD/teachers that don't step in when a resident or med student is fucking up.

    And some universities hospitals are religious which defeats the point.
