I know man, fortunately I've never been there, but I've worked closely for years with people who do. Man it's heart-breaking. It's so easy for middle class and above to pretend like poor people don't exist.

I swear so many people if they spend one month like poor, they'd not survive And then my own mom, thinks people are poor because they don't work hard enough, and I'm like wtf... Her own sister was on the verge of becoming homeless despite both my aunt and uncle full time working and only avoided it because of interest free loans from family. She still thinks my aunt must have done something wrong. She bailed her out, and she paid my mom the money. But my mom still thinks it's her fault. That was during 2008 FYR.

I've been asking her to come with me to soup kitchen like once, and talk to people. She has come but only behind the pot for serving and has refused to talk to people.
