The term "flag shagger" is so uniquely British because for whatever reason we are one of the few countries in the world that seems to hate ourselves. They felt the need to neuter the coronation to cater to the whining of people who weren't even going to watch it in the first place. So it creates a reactionary response.

The people doing this use the flag intentionally because it makes it almost impossible to complain about it. They've highjacked the flag and warped what it stands for.

There is also an element of 90's football hooliganism. Before this recent right-wing stunt, when I see a st Georges flag raised my first thought is the person raising it is a football idiot.

So I don't think it's people hating their country or the flags specifically, it's more about disliking the morons who use it and what they think it stands for.

Then unwarp it. Our forefathers fought and many died for what that flag truly represents.

Nations are dumb and I don't care about the monarch or have any strong feelings, positive or negative, toward the flag. Sue me.

So there's no problem with there being crowns and jacks everywhere then? Especially if put up with good intentions

No, because that's people forcing their dumbass fanclub into public spaces. I'd take issue the same way with people putting football flags everywhere

The public space is in that fanclub though, the fanclub being the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Should all public spaces just be bland concrete squares to just not force any kind of heritage on anybody?

I resent that. If you're into flags and kings or whatever that's your business, I don't see why I should be inundated with it in the places I go to shop and work.

Because you live and work in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is a Kingdom with a King and the flag is the Union Flag. If you are a citizen, you are a subject of His Majesty The King.

His majesty the king can go get a real job and stop living off of my taxes as far as I'm concerned

They're not your taxes, they're his taxes.

Also he mainly lives off of a portion of the income from his own estate, which most of which goes back into the treasury anyway
