I am beginning to think the Palestinians in Gaza are a doomed people, not unlike the native Indians in the USA in the 1800's. Big picture thinking here. Not a tit-for-tat listing of atrocities and counter-atrocities, facts and counter-facts. Neighboring Arab states with ethnic, linguistic, historical and racial ties to the Palestinian Arabs living in the contested areas seem to want nothing to do with them, if you judge them by their deeds and not their empty words. Even their closest ethnic cousins in the region seem content to permit them to wither and die under the wind currents of international politics. An abandoned people. Ordinary morality is for the common people- individuals. At the levels of international powers, morality abides by different rules and laws. At that level the Palestinians have been fighting a losing battle for the last 80 years. Rightly or wrongly, that bill is finally coming due for many in the region.
