The agreement to release oil stocks comes amid growing concerns in Brussels about entering winter with low strategic reserves, and becoming more susceptible to what several EU officials described as US “blackmail”.

If i ever meet a person who voted for trump, I'll tell them to fuck off. If they say they regret it, I'll still tell them to fuck off. Kind of like these criminals who regret what they did after they were caught (Maxwell), they know what they're doing, and goes back in it if it hits them back.

"Oh, I'm sorry, you honour, I didn't mean to do it" might work in the USA, but not in Europe. We will never forget this backstabbing.

I can sort of see the how someone got suckered in to voting for Trump in 2016, a new radical face promising change vs a generic and unlikeble deeply entrenched democrat with no real promise for real change.

At some point you get tired enough to say "fuck it" and vote for the weird newcommer, in the hopes that something good would come our of it, or simply to send the one kind of protest that the dems would have a very hard time to ignore.

I can see that happening, but the 2024 election? Anyone voting for Trump deserves an instant hard face punch.

Definitely, especially with all of the Bernie excitement. Bernie really seemed like he had momentum and a real shot, once the DNC basically shoved Hillary in as the choice it became really easy to see Trump as an appealing option, even if it's just as a change agent. I caught on to the pedophilia stories before that election, so I couldn't stomach voting for him even if I somehow were able to ignore the obvious Russian ties.

The sigh of relief when Biden won in 2020 was collective. Everyone was just so happy to have a sane president again and not have to stress about him tweeting out threats to North Korea on a Tuesday. I have no idea how he won in 2024, there was his open rhetoric about tariffs, project 2025, a bunch of public rape allegations, but most of all how could anyone forget the daily stress from 2016 to 2020?

Keep in mind that the U.S. Republican party has been actively undermining their education system for decades as one of the many ways to trick voters into believing their lies. For many of the people who voted red, they were conned and manipulated their whole life into doing so. It doesn't excuse their past actions, but those who see their own wrongs and wish to work to correct them should be given the chance to do so.

... Might work in the USA, but not in Europe.

If that was the case, the entirety of the German population would have been executed following World War 2 for letting Hitler take power. I know that's an exaggeration but the "Hitler Youth" were brainwashed into supporting him through their childhood, and the USA Republican party definitely took note of how to do this.

In the same way that German and Italian fascists were inspired by American politics, the Hitler Youth were modeled on the Boy Scouts and many former Boy Scouts don’t love it when you point this out (ask me how I know).
