    It's a symbol of Palestinians who have taken care of the same trees for generations, often long before Isnotreal even existed.

    It can be seen as literally rooting Palestinians to their land, so it needs to be eradicated.

    Colonizers always destroy the ecological attachment that indigenous people have to their lands. Not only that, it's a source of healthy food and revenue for Palestinians.

    Israel also has laws preventing the harvesting of native plants that are a cultural and vital food source for Palestinians that live in rural areas.

    Beyond practical reason, the olive branch is literally an offer of peace or the classical offer of peace.

    From a cultural and philosophical point, the meaning can be interpreted as "we want to live in peace" vs "there can be no peace".
