Jessica Cantu Vuittonet, who runs a coffee shop in San Benito, Texas, cast her first ballot in 2024 — for Donald Trump. Two years later, after her brother was deported, she feels angry and betrayed.

Ariel Salinas, who owns a construction company in McAllen, Texas, can no longer reliably find laborers for his work crews. He blames the president’s immigration policies for his financial headaches.

In more than two dozen interviews across the region in recent weeks, Hispanic voters said they were furious over the president’s approach to immigration and the economy — the very problems they had counted on him to fix.

You left out the part where they thought they could trade their latino heritage out to become white adjacent. The same thing happened with the Irish and Italians. Thats where it all came from.

Foreigners that immigrate believe that classism is the main divide of The US because thats how it is in their country. Ethnicity, religion, and class are the main dividers in countries where everyone looks the same. America was founded on whiteness being the MAJOR social divide and you could trade in your ethnicity if you looked a certain way. Its why if you're Polish no one looks at you funny in the US but in the UK Polish immigrants were part of the propaganda of "Stealing our Jobs" for Brexit. They're finding out the hard way that it doesnt work that way here

    Absolutely, but don’t forget that they were primarily fooled into thinking they had two feet in the door already by being religious and conservative in their religiosity. They figured just saying and believing all the right political points would let them in the in-group and all they had to do was pull up that ladder themselves.
