Definitely coffee. I know it's super popular but I can't stand it. I kinda like the smell of it, but the taste I find awful and the aftereffects are excruciating and longlasting. Someone suggested I might have an allergy. I might or might not look further into this at some point

I have tried decaf though, once... chasing the hope that it would still -despite the absence of caffeine- trigger bowel movement at a critical time in my life. and it did! Apparently caused by gastrine, from my superficial reading.

Yeah, coffee just tastes like sad. There are some situations the flavour of coffee can be beneficial, like some sort of mocha ice cream. But generally coffee is... You drink it because you have to.

I had to get some preground recently as I ran out of my regular stuff, totally get why people don't like coffee if that's all they have access to. It was both weak and (to me) burnt (even though it claimed to be a medium roast). Lots of larger places over roast their coffee and it shows, no wonder people use a pile of sugar at places like Starbucks.

If you can find some lighter roast stuff from a smaller roaster (or coffee shop that roasts their own), give that a try. Coffee can totally be like tea in that it has a wide variety of flavours depending on origin and processing. I like more fruit forward or floral coffees (which unsurprisingly I also like in tea).

I think there was something like you need four experiences to normalize what you don't like. Be it food on kids or coffee or whatnot.

Personally, I don't like coffee either, but for me that includes the smell.

I hated tea and coffee (apart from the smell) until my early thirties… now I drink gallons of both. Turns out I hated the “additives”. Black tea (maybe with a slice of lemon) and black coffee I really enjoy.

Also the smell of Redbull (taurine?) used to make me feel sick but now I can drink it. Weird.

Aha, I can certainly relate to liking black tea over flavoured tea. I still have a bag of BOP from a trip in Kerala 15 years ago. It's lost a bit of its flavour since then..., I should make plans for renewing the stock.

What's pretty good too is cola nut. It's very common in Madagascar and I was able to buy some.

Oh man, I absolutely adore coffee, it’s one of my all time favorite things. It like happy in a glass. But I’m getting old, and I can’t deal with the caffeine like when I was a kid, and decaf is just ruined coffee (not sure if it’s the process or the missing caffeine flavor, but I’ve never tasted a decaf I like).

But the unaltered stuff, I even munch plain beans every now and again. Then again, I’ve never bought a can of coffee, my entire life I’ve only drank beans I ground myself, sometimes at the store, but it’s always started as a whole bean.

Not suggesting you try it, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Frankly I’m glad because it leaves more for me :)

Most coffee tastes like burnt vegetable farts. I think it's the process and that to get the most caffeine out, you have to over-roast it or something so that it's the most porous. Or they do that so that it's fast. I dunno. Vita coffee has a decent decaf with the orange label. Not great, just decent. I had to grind it finer than other coffees and pull slower shots.
