Me yesterday: “I’m getting all of my car maintenance done right now before this shit costs $1000 more.”

The guys in UAW deserve to be homeless after this stunt.

I work as a bagger at a supermarket (H.S. job) and I have heard this from so many people today.

Ya know, since there is pretty much nothing I can do about it anyway, I'll just see where this shitwave is taking us and hope to the heavens all I know about economics is wrong.

70-80% of my portfolio is in relatively safe stock.

So 20- 30% of my shit is fucked right now. I just hope the tariffs landing Saturday don't affect the other 70-80%.

I dread what my retirements savings must look like, and I don’t have many years to make it back, but at this point, all you can really do is keep feeding it in for that precious cost averaging, and don’t look for 4 years in the hope of there being a rebound

Oh yeah I lost big the last couple of days, tech stocks. Here's hoping Trump's term will be so bad, everyone will be like 'AI can't possibly do worse than this, let's give it a go'. I'll be rich. But most likely it'll all be worth nothing. Speculating is fun.

I do not want AI in positions of power. That's an awful idea.

[–] Vinny_93@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm not saying I do. But my stocks will skyrocket if people decide AI will be better than Trump. Since people seem to enjoy putting AI in everything.

It was meant to be an attempt at humour.

I caught the attempt, but at the same time it's just such a bad idea...

USA playing alone in the corner while the rest of the world trades efficiently.

It worked well for North Korea

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago

Depends heavily on your definitions of "worked" and "well"

The difference here being, that the US is huge, unlike NK. Maybe they should be able to go on without external dependencies, given that they have a lot of natural resources.

If he's allowed to be political in work meetings you are allowed to tell him he is wrong and offer to teach him in front of everybody

"I don't understand, but I feel the need to voice an opinion."

More stock manipulation?

Why won't Republicans do something?
