NASCAR driver Josh Wise.

Cringy as it is to think about now, I was swept up in all the DogeCar hype back in 2014. Made sure to pre-order a die cast as soon as I could, and the driver signed it for me later, at an unrelated race.

Also, Skweezy Jibbs. He signed my brother's pants at a movie theater a few weeks ago, and then my brother gifted me the pants.

I've got autographs with personal dedication from Terry Pratchett and Arthur C. Clarke. And a few others.

I have in a trunk at my parents' house that contains a fair number of autographs that I collected prior to my 18th birthday. Among them are Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan, Deforest Kelley, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, Walter Koenig, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, oh and William Shatner, I guess.

Yes, my parents like sci-fi, and D&D conventions. How'd you guess?

nobody. don't see the appeal. I guess literature would make sense. like an author signing a book but like I won't stand in a line to get one.

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

A copy of 'the minds I' signed by Daniel Dennet and a t-shirt that was one signed by Solomon Burke, I wore it a lot and it washed out.

Furthermore a CD by the absurdist comedians of Jiskefet (which will dox and age me a bit, but wth)

[–] Rivermoonwolf@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Used to have Tony Todd's autograph. Dude scared the living shit outta me, and gave me an autograph and one hell of a funny story to make up for it

Jesse Welles (leftist political singer), Michael Stevens (Vsauce), Adam Savage (Myth Busters), Alec Benjamin (pop singer, my wife’s technically but still in the house), a local major junior ice hockey team circa 2009 I think, the Globe Trotters, Jager Henry (rock group, lead is grandson of John Bonham, drummer for Led Zeppelin and overall a cool guy to talk to), if artist signatures on original works counts then a few from some local artists. Probably forgetting something. The first three are definitely my favourites I have.

Not signatures but I’ve also got pictures meeting some local celebrities too. Specifically, Mark Critch (22 Minutes, Son of a Critch), Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle, Jack Ryan, Book of Negros), and the cast of Murdoch Mysteries.

From the few customers who have requested a written contract for the work I'm about to perform.

[–] buttmasterflex@piefed.social 2 points 8 hours ago

Vinnie Paz - bought an EP in vinyl and it came with a signed poster.

In Hearts Wake - got their autographs on the cover of their 4th album when I saw them on their North America tour in 2017.

When I was a kid I snuck into the pits of the Montreal F1 race and got autographs from a dozen drivers, the most cherished was Gilles Villeneuve, now framed.

[–] vinceman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 8 hours ago

I have a Ken Block signature.

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 2 points 10 hours ago

I have a signed copy of The Log by Craig Charles (best known as Lister from Red Dwarf), though it was a gift, so I never actually met him myself.

... though funny story, I could have met him a couple of times at a gig he did in my hometown.

The first was when I was walking to the venue, no-one else around somehow, and there was this guy jumping up and down on the spot not too far off near the venue, which is not what you generally see someone doing in the street. As I got closer I must have looked away for a second because when I looked back, he was gone.

When he came on stage I realised it had been him warming up outside, getting the blood flowing, etc. He's fairly distinctive in appearance, so you'd think I ought to have realised sooner, but I don't think I recognised him outside because 1) I usually see him on TV and 2) I genuinely didn't expect to see him there.

Then later, after the gig, he was outside the stage door as I walked by on the street, but alas, I am an introvert and he was still "on" which was a bit too high energy for me, so I didn't take the opportunity to join the other fans who were getting an outdoor encore.

Alan Rickman, the entire Voyager cast and half the LOTR cast.

[–] MalReynolds@slrpnk.net 7 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

Douglas Adams. Came across a signing and by random had borrowed the hardcover of So Long and Thanks For All the Fish (with the hologram on the front) and took it as a sign. Paid off the library...

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 11 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Neil Armstrong - used to play celebrity golf tournaments.

[–] crwth@piefed.zip 5 points 16 hours ago

I got Buzz Aldrin's at some university watch party for some incoming space probe pictures.

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 6 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Brendan Frasier, although I haven't actually met him in person. His mom worked at the same place as my mom, and they arranged to get me a signed Encino Man poster.

[–] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 7 points 18 hours ago

I have a bass guitar autographed by Steve Vai, Tosin Abasi, Yngwie Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt, and Zakk Wylde. It was my first “real” instrument that I got for my 17th birthday, the bass that I learned on, and has been by my side my whole life. She’s retired and hangs on the wall in my studio.

[–] fleebleneeble@reddthat.com 2 points 14 hours ago

Olan Rogers, Howie Day, Weird Al, Scott Kelly, the dudes from the band Crazy Love Hawk, and Shinedown, I think that's it

Ihhave never asked nor otherwise seeked out an autograph in my life, yet somehow I ended up with...

Judith Hoag who played April O'Neal in the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. I was friends with her nephew for a while and when he asked if I wanted her autograph I said "sure".

and

Joseph Barbara of Hanna-Barbera. My work put me in close proximity to him for a while, just a couple of years before he passed, and I think that he just signed pictures to give him something to do when he came in the office.

I think that's it. Nothing all that exciting, even if I was the type to get excited about autographs.

[–] Hikermick@lemmy.world 9 points 21 hours ago

Joe DiMaggio

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago

Nobody, I don't see the point.

Medical professionals and justice of the peace for paperwork

Many years ago, a friend happened across a record store where Ween was sitting signing autographs. He went in, but he had no money to buy anything, and the only thing he had on him was his driver's license.

So Ween is his organ donor witnesses.

[–] njordomir@lemmy.world 8 points 21 hours ago

Afroman. We were watching the trial on the news and I asked myself "Does this dude still tour?". Coincidentally, when I looked it up, he was going to be in the same tiny Midwest town we were visiting in only a few days, so I bought tickets. The guy is a born entertainer!

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago

I got the autographs of the original Black Sabbath lineup at a promo for their reunion tour in 99 or 2000. Ozzy smudged his marker so I got his fingerprint as a bonus.

Got my dad a Ted Nugent autograph since I knew he was a fan. He was at the local sportsman's gear show, so I was cool with going to that anyway. I think that's the first time I saw a live bald eagle up close, so that was really cool. Ted played some guitar, which was good, and then gave a really strange talk. I only later learned everything else about Ted other than he liked to hunt, so that is a very mixed experience in hindsight.

Got Jerry Lawler's at a ComicCon where he was promoting his comic. Got Adam West's there too.

The ex got the Ghost Hunters' at a different ComicCon. She was very excited, but I had no idea who they were at the time.

When I was a kid I wrote to a few baseball rookies and got their autographs. I still have them somewhere, but nobody who ever became anybody. There was a player with the same name as me that I wrote a few times, but he never wrote back. Jerk.

Those are all the ones I can think of.

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 6 points 20 hours ago

I have an autographed original drawing. Unfortunately, it's a drawing of the Sandman, by Neil Gaiman. Yeah... I don't have that on display in my house anymore.

[–] TheAlbatross@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 21 hours ago

Nana Visitor, Terry Farrell and Nicole de Boer.

I'd love to get one from Avery Brooks, but I don't think he does that anymore.

I have worked in and around the entertainment industry in various roles for many years. I have quite a few. Most recently would be the members of GWAR, Ensiferum, and Korpiklaani.

[–] Console_Modder@sh.itjust.works 3 points 18 hours ago

Tony Hawk and Steve-O

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

David Copperfield. It didn’t do anything for me and I’ve never got an autograph from anyone else since.

[–] banause@feddit.org 5 points 18 hours ago

He cursed you.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 21 hours ago

Arnold Schwarzenegger. When he was running for govenor, he had a rally nearby a doctors office I just happened to have an appointment at near the same time and I was able to get in line to shake hands and get the autograph. I'm not sure if I still have the autograph book he signed tho. My mom had it stored with a bunch of my old kid stuff growing up and I don't think it was brought with us when we moved and I can't ask her now since she's no longer with us. Gotta go through all the stuff still packed up in the closets.

I also got Mitch Hedberg's autograph. It's just not the Mitch Hedberg you might have imagined upon reading that. But he is/was also a comedian. Saw him and a couple other small time comedians at a local club. His name was a large part of his set.

[–] pixelmeow@lemmy.world 5 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Billie Joe Armstrong the last night of American Idiot on Broadway. His wife Adrienne in April a year before at the same venue

[–] notsosure@sh.itjust.works 4 points 20 hours ago

Jack Vance.

[–] ashitaka@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

The band members from Priest and Mindless Self Mindless on posters from different shows I went to. Nothing crazy special but I liked each band enough to go see them and get autographs.

[–] DrBanjo@reddthat.com 1 points 17 hours ago

Thats cool - I love Priest!

[–] ace_garp@lemmy.world 4 points 22 hours ago

Josh Kennedy yesterday.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Warren Spector.

EDIT:

Also, not an autograph, but got a picture with Ashly Burch at that same PAX, waaaay back when she was just 'Hey Ash Watcha Playin?' Ash.

... wow I didn't even realize she was/is Miss Pauling in TF2 as well, shit.

Also yes her brother was there too, in the pic, ... mhm yep, mhm.

Also also: Got a pic but not autograph with JoCo as well! Literally not even at a venue, randomly encountered him walking around downtown, presumably from his hotel to the Convention Center? ... I swear, I'm being so sincere right now.
