It could be worse. I've seen someone buying a big LEGO set for several hundred dollars, and they just slapped an address sticker on the box and sent it off. Not only that the sticker ruined the box, but the postal disservice ruined it even further.

I hate when people repost Reddit/Facebook pictures with the original captions.
That’s beyond mildly infuriating.
This comment thread is driving me nuts. Don’t repair the new thing you just bought, just send it back and get a new one.
Lighter fluid works well for taking care of that.
Just pour it on the Walmart and light a match.
95% plastic backpack and they cant use a plastic based sticker. Oof.
Exchange it until you get one that isn't destroyed by improper packaging.

This has always been my go to
Nail polish remover or even some isopropyl usually works, too. Both dissolve typical adhesives and cost significantly less.
They aren't generally safe for plastics either.
Those would definitely dissolve the plastic backpack as well....
Only at a concentration of 90% or higher and over a sustained period of time. 70% iso (the most common you find for sale) won't hurt the backpack just cleaning off the sticker.
My experience with cheap ass prints like this is different, the ink runs like crazy if you're not very careful with it.
almost certainly both will damage print. something like lighter fluid (or hexane) won't, but it should loosen glue. trying to dislodge sticker with a razor sometimes works even better
some people suggest vegetable oil, but then you're left with oily fabric
It doesn't look like the spot where the sticker is, is even fabric. Just straight plastic.
i'd still try hydrocarbon solvent first, because it's least likely to damage it
Rip. Might try wetting it with mineral oil for 5 to 15 minutes. Might loosen the adhesive.
Swabbing with rubbing alcohol also helps with adhesive but test it first to be sure it doesn't also dissolve the ink on the picture on the backpack
On another surface or material? Maybe. On a Walmart backpack? I wouldn’t even risk it.
This is the best option. It’s very unlikely it’ll affect the backpack, it degrades the adhesive, and then evaporates. Pull it off when it’s still wet. If there’s still residue after the label is off, use a paper towel with alcohol on it to rub off the rest. Might take a few passes.
(What’s weird is the Walmart stickers like this I’ve received have post-it note type adhesive, not permanent adhesive.)

Citrus oil cleaners like Murphy will do the same thing, as an alternative option
Olive oil can also help to dissolve glues or tape
Bummer. When this kinda thing happens to me I just accept the fate the universe has delivered me, and pick off the sticker for like 45 minutes while watching an episode or something.
No other removal method has proven reliably non-damaging.
Heat and humidity if the other suggestions don't help. Walmart is the worst, and I hate stickers on my stuff, so double infuriating ...
Goo-Gone ? hair dryer?
Goo-gone is petroleum based and will likely dissolve/damage the plasticky material the backpack is made of unfortunately. Natural oil + warm damp washcloth followed by a hair dryer (on low) would be a better bet though
Maybe walk into the store yourself instead of contributing to the waves of Walmart employees paying those big shopper carts around?
If you're okay with supporting the Waltons, their community-destroying business model, and the half a trillion dollars they're hoarding, you've already forfeited the moral high ground and should probably not criticize...
