I really enjoy the mellowing out effect but I have that crappy East Asian gene (or lack of specific genes?) that can't process alcohol so I turn red and get headaches right away. You guys will have to drink for me.

It's ok brother just like we all get vaccines in part to protect those who can't, so too will we aspire to backfill the alcoholic coolness in solidarity with those who are unable to contribute themselves. For England.

I'm not sober, but I have tried some NA beers, and they're surprisingly good. I have also tried some of the old ones that were pretty nasty. I don't really know why the old ones were bad, or how we now have good ones, but it's nice to see.

Other way around. Modern capitalism dictates that as sales drop, prices must rise so profits can remain the same or continue increasing.
Probably, yeah, because as the casuals drop out, only hardcores will remain, and they are frankly willing / compelled to pay more. So they will.

Yeah about that.. nothing modern about it. That's what it was supposed to be by the old observations when people had actual scarcity of .. wheat and corn or whatever.
It doesn't work for alcohol today. There are still people doing moonshine brew because it can't get cheap enough. The demand will never reach a bottom nor a peak.
It's layers of markets. If you can't sell your shit brew at "market price" you can always dump the price and reach a new market of bottom feeders or go the other way and pay influencer to make a silly drinking game to make artificial scarcity in the upper market.
There's always enough supply and demand that everything is possible.
With fewer people smoking, the price of cigs sure didn't drop.

But WHY?!
Most of the cost is production and taxes. If demand falls, production resources (land etc) are diverted to more profitable crops. This makes supply fall until prices reach a new equilibrium.
Taxes then add a fixed offset to that.
With the world going to shit, drinking helps. Something will kill you sooner or later.
Then why not something special like heroin or meth? Go out with a bang and all. Or reject reality and do LSD, DMT or shrooms? Alcohol is so basic, smh...
Yeah, I like weed and shrooms, but they're super illegal where I live now, I fortunately.
We can get LSD by mail in Canada now, It's cheap and the quality is amazing.

I don't even have alcohol at home anymore.
Technically, everyone is doing their part in the matter of a number being record low.
Alcohol kind of sucks compared to other drugs. Anything alcohol does something else does a lot better with less liver damage.
I mostly use alcohol to desinfect equipment since it's a cell poison.
I bet it's been replaced by the Devils lettuce (in the US at least).
Honestly so much cheaper too (at least in Michigan).
And healthier.
I mean I neither drink alcohol nor toke, but I've heard mj is the lesser of the two evils, for those who can't resist mind-altering substances.
I smoke weed i don't regret my actions... I drink and if I am lucky I don't wind up in jail. The same with the cocain. Devils lurk in this body and the weed keeps them in permajail
