Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Now this is something that will get bipartisan “No” votes!

[–] Red0ctober@lemmy.world 49 points 2 days ago

Curbing a madman's ability to drag an entire nation into a conflict with no perceptible end point is just a bridge too far for most US lawmakers

I think you're being a little bit too optimistic here... it won't even be voted on.

[–] kayky@thelemmy.club 2 points 1 day ago

Why?

There are enough Democrats to bring it to a vote.

You're not telling me... democrats support the genocide too? 😱

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Symbolic only. Even if the Senate voted for it, it would never get past the House.

[–] kayky@thelemmy.club 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It will reveal more democrats that shouldn't be in office.

I get the feeling this will get shot down because it would hinder weapons sales to Israel or threaten AIPAC money. Politicians who vote against it will probably say they like the idea, but don't like the wording.

I hope it gets through tho.

Which will go nowhere...

[–] zkfcfbzr@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

So... The NO WAI Act?

[–] Placebonickname@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

POTUS has too much power already. Declaring Emergency to bypass the senate in order to conduct war should be fixed.

Not saying this juts cause Trump is a moron, its time to restore some power to the legislature.

Bernie, you have to understand that Israel wants us at war with Iran. And our politicians are puppets for Israel. You can't overpower Israel. The most powerful nation in history can't stand up to a tiny nation that requires subsidies to exist.

[–] Objection@lemmy.ml -4 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Israel is a puppet of the US, not the other way around.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

False. Biden and the Dems spent a year pretending they had no power over Israel's genocide in Gaza. Our politicians are owned by propaganda. Look at the chud Fetterman. Look at the mayoral candidates for NYC who pledged to visit Israel in the first N days if elected. Our politicians are simps for Israel.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trump is a massive isreal simp

More like the tail and the dog take turns wagging each other

[–] maniclucky@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

It's kinda like that saying: if you owe your friend $100, they have power over you. If you owe your friend $10,000, you have power over them.

[–] Mammal@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago

Most elected Democrats are against this. But hey, I'm sure Lesser Of Two Evils™ thinking is going to stop making things worse eventually.
