If he can get away with rape, he can get away with this. America has lost it's spine.

The US never had a spine. The rich were always allowed to do this crap.

Show me ONE point in history where the rich and powerful were held accountable in the US.

At one point we taxed them a lot more...

    It's all I've got.

Yup. Then they started influencing politics more and more, got those taxes reduced, all the social programs halted, and now what you got is a shitty system that churns out factory workers the rich don’t even need anymore.

“From January 2025 to June 2026, lawmakers reported a collective 22,200 transactions while the president made nearly 28,700.”

Yeah that is illegal. The rule of law is meaningless in this country though.

It is illegal. The insider trading laws should be enforced. Presidential immunity does not apply to stock trading. Hopefully we will at some point get a normal government again and some of the ill-gotten gains can be clawed back.

It IS illegal. The law is only the law in so far as it is enforcible.

"Insider Trading" is illegal, just never enforced.

IDK whether what Trump is doing meets the definition of "insider" trading because the law is intended to prevent CEO's and managers trading on the strength of pre-release financial information.

However, like a great many of the behaviors of this administration, no one ever really thought of making it illegal in the past for two reasons. Firstly presidents have always had respect for the office, some less so than others but they were all somehow aware of their duty to fit and proper conduct. Secondly everyone assumed that if a president were to very unashamedly enrich themselves through the office, they would be removed from office.

Narrator: sadly however, the people of America were mistaken

This is approved behavior according to republicans

My parents say that he must be doing something right because if he's wrong then why isn't he fined or charged with anything?

I don't blame them too much, they're immigrants who consume the american diaspora propaganda. Usual stuff conflating fascism and corruption as communism and vice versa. Typical China bad rhetoric and Pro-Israel propaganda ofc.

I'll cut them some slack for being immigrants and maybe not being used to our brand of propaganda, but someone is going to have to have a talk with them about questioning sources and discerning fact from opinion.

And they should read "A People's History of the United States." You should too if you haven't. It's literally always been the same, it's just that historically dissemination of information was more difficult and the ruling class was quite a bit smarter.

They are illegal, but laws are only worth the paper they're written on if you're willing to enforce them.

Once again, many comments that didn’t read the article.

US Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who has previously sounded the alarm over Trump’s “unprecedented” trading, said on  Tuesday that “it should be illegal for the president to trade individual stocks—period.”

As it is not, he has to send a 45 day notice that he doesn’t do, which is illegal.

If congress and senate can do it, of course the President can do it.

(and let's remember, they all get the best healthcare on Earth, and never have to pay for anything or do anything, and they only work a few months a year on top of that; the rest of the time they're being wined and dined by lobbyists)

Absolutely! The rise of the Joker (Trump) happened because of the moral hypocrisy and critical lack of self-awareness of the Gothinians.

Keep crying out to billionaire Bruce Wayne to save you from the “bad” billionaires. Because we’re entitled to 10 pounds of meat/cheese a week, cheap fossil fuels, cheap Amazon Chinese goods, luxury vacations and açaí bowls.

And when Batman (the centrist liberal, capitalist establishment) fails at changing material conditions and the Joker gets out of Arkham again, bitch about what the lack of accountability and self-awareness results in.

oh jeez, sorry. Cut me some slack- people who defend donny and his kleptocracy are generally mistaken and confused. Because you used the words "blind trust," I pegged you as a mid-wit libertarian living with mom who couldn't finish college because of "affirmative action and shit," and totally not because they're a lazy porn addict. You know the type.

We're at the point where satire is usually more believable than reality.

I know all that. It's still a fun form of humor I like to use.

To think that it would be ethically OK for your adult children to make trades on your behalf while you are making daily decisions or announcements materially affecting those companies is ridiculous. But it's even more ridiculous to think that Trump isn't calling the shots himself and purposefully and shamelessly making those announcements and decisions to enrich himself.
