Putting "DON'T scan your face for X." at the very end would be even stronger.

If you absolutely have to scan a face, apparently this works: nofacescan.app

I've always obsessively kept my photos off any cloud provider for years only to discover that the entire rest of the family have a treasure trove of fully tagged pictures of me uploaded to every major provider out there. In most cases I think it even ties the tag to my phone/email/birthday entry in their Contacts list.

Always wondered about this, if they receive a GDPR request from you do they have to delete others tagged pictures of you and your contact details? I mean it is your personal data technically.

Yeah, they do. AIUI there's some nuance about what constitutes "legitimate interest" so it's possible (probable in fact) they might only delete pictures where you're the main subject but not e.g. group photos from events

Meanwhile their CEO loves republicans and supports fascist influencers through money and by meeting up with them for videos.

Every single one of those websites is not crucial to existence even remotely. Let’s all collectively show them they don’t matter anymore.

Why did all the American companies suddenly start asking for my ID?

Because we have reached some sort of critical mass of ad blocking and anonymization online, enough that it's starting to hurt the bottom line, so they need a solid way to track people for that shit.

Also, the US is currently being run by a rabid pack of puritan Christo fascists, ie Project 2025. Right now it's "protect the children", but ultimately the idea is to track and sensor and "reeducate" people.

"Oh, you search for 'signs I am gay'? Better report to God Camp."

Don't even think about trying to be anything that does not fit in the box.

Deleted Reddit after I got asked to do this to Confirm my age.

I didn’t need ro access any 18+ content on that platform but for me this was the alarm bell that made me actually delete my account.
