This fake deal accomplishes exactly two things:

1. It lets Trump give Putin money for arms against Ukraine and all Putin has to do is middle man Indian diesel.
2. It lets Trump attack Ukrainians when they strike Russian refineries because they're "bombing our American diesel supply chain.

The US is a NET EXPORTER of diesel. They don't need more fuel. The problem is the market price is increasing due to mostly Hormuz since Russian oil is sanctioned. All he's doing is lifting this sanction to pay Putin to buy arms. Stopping Putin from trading fuel for arms was the entire purpose of the sanctions in the first place.
