Perfectly outlines the divide and conquer strategy.

And how they don't care about consistency; they only say what they think will win the exact argument they're having at the moment.

Their only consistent belief is that they should be in charge.

"Guns don't kill people, people kill people! Don't do gun control, it's all because of mental illness!"

"Okay, let's do something about mental illness."

    "No!"

Black Panthers: Okay, we'll arm ourselves to protect our neighborhood from racist cops/the KKK/etc.

Conservatives: No! You're terrorists who should be extrajudicially executed!

They consistently dont care about others. And they destroy the society they take a hold in by pretending marginalized people are the Problem.

They are very consistent. The consistency is just basically evil.

Sure, but that's all in service of power. That's my point.

But that is the top down analysis.

Not very useful in understanding the cult members, only useful for understanding the cult.

However i would argue we know extensively how that works, but not necessirily what Happens in the cult member.

    No it isn't only a top-down analysis.

The dipshits on the bottom only care about having power over other people. The people at the top know that if they give the reactionaries one rung from the bottom shit on someone lower than them then they'll be a reliable base. The people in government don't care one bit about gay marriage, trans rights, Christian supremacy (well, most of them don't), abortion, etc. They throw that out as red meat to their voters so that it reinforces the hierarchy. It's always been this way. Look at the southern white population before the US civil war: most of them were not slaves owners, but the social hierarchy favored them over the black population so they were content to have pseudo-aristocrats dominating the political space.

Like I said: conservatives only care about power, and their preferred tool is a rigid social hierarchy.

A lot of homeless people can't work. But, for those who can, it's hard to find a job when you haven't been able to shower for a week, have no money to purchase nice clothing for interviews (let alone no where to keep these nice clothes), and don't have an address which is often needed to secure either a job or benefits.

I have been homeless this year, and was lucky enough to get into a housing program. But my finances are still fucked, and I can't work because of serious mental and physical disabilities. It's a trap that is so difficult to get out of, and I'm very worried that I'll be homeless again in a few years.

Imagine the toll this takes on a person, then add that this population is hated, derided, and repeatedly victimized by both the general population and the government/police. Imagine struggling with mental issues, and having all that you've managed to collect stolen from you every other week. Imagine having physical disabilities and being unable to run away from assaults. Imagine all of the above with the additional burdens of being a woman, a POC, and/or LGBTQ+.

Now think about how rough the job market is for people who have stable housing, and who meet the qualifications of a job, and for those who wouldn't be a "DEI" hire in the age of "anti-woke".

Empathy isn't a weakness, it literally only means that you understand someone else's plot in life. Being able to understand situations like or unlike your own is a strength, and it's necessary to promote societal change. And that is exactly why conservatives hate it

Considering subsidies and tax brakes, conservatives are the biggest free loaders.

TBF (should we be fair to them? They aren't fair to us) this is a patchwork, not a single conversation, but all individual statements could've come from just one person.

The point is - at least that's how I see it - all social posturing from fascists is just that. They don't care about other people, or people as a whole. What they really want is perfectly divided in and out groups, with them being in the in group. Freedoms and advantages that only apply to them and repression that only applies to the out group.

It's almost like conservatives are truly, deeply evil and building concentration camps to kill vulnerable people is completely on-brand for them.

Through this rhetoric they also conveniently make people forget about homeless refugees, immigrant women, lesbians, and the mukhannathun.

But a paragraph of text strawmen isn't really a meme :/

Sigh. What is a meme then? Please define it.

    Wait, I’ll do it.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_meme

It’s a common misconception that a meme needs to include an image or be funny. It doesn’t.

Edit: I will also add this - criticizing people for posting content on Lemmy is shitty. We don’t have enough content. If you don’t like what I post, just move on. Or go post your own stuff.

I think you would struggle to find a conservative that hates Muslim people because of what someone did in Orlando or hates gay people because they are pedophiles. They hate them because they were told to by right wing media, that's it. Pretending there's some logic behind it is pure fantasy.

Except that the ones who have at least two brain cells present their hate under the color of reason, and this is what the rest of them parrot.

Yes, and there are dozens of them. Dozens!

But seriously, I'm yet to see a right-wing influencer that pretends to reason. It's all racist dog whistles because their viewers would not understand anything else.

I had a recent train of thought like this not long ago when Talarico affirmed MAGA talking points about trans athletes in women's sports.

The number of trans athletes active in the US is about ten. The number of sports injuries involving trans athletes is less than that.

Bit this raises a question about the safety of women's sports, or all sports, for that matter. Injuries are ubiquitous in sports, all cis-on-cis, with exceptions fewer than a rounding error.

And then that raises the concern of full-contact gridiron football, which is a TBI machine from varsity, through college, to professional. If we're worried about sports injuries, do we stop caring when it might cut into billionaire profits?

I'm still sore with Talarico about it, but I'm not in Texas.

Your identity as Muslim does not affect whether I give a fuck about you. I want everyone to have life, health, dignity, and personhood. I don't care what their religion is.

And sure, I disagree with some Muslims who are authoritarian, or violent, or misogynistic. I also disagree with Christians who are authoritarian, or violent, or misogynistic. It's the authoritarianism, the violence, and the misogyny that I take issue with.

  • It's hard to be a rapist, murderer, pillager, colonizer society and have a heart and humanity. It's one or the other, basically, but being a monster (and influencing the cattle to become predators) can be very profitable!
