Communism is now about debating and tweeting, nothing about becoming radicalized and overthrowing governments? BigTechs are taking over every area of our lives. They sell our data, use their algorithms to manipulate elections around the world and favor the far right, fill us with propaganda and consumerism. I believe in revolutions. Do you still believe?

Comrade, it's not about believing or not. Revolutions happened in history before, multiple times, and they will happen again. However, our task is not about creating a revolution, but about creating organizations that can respond to revolutions when they occur, and which do their part on convincing people to rebel against the system, in other words, to create a revolutionary conscience.

The questions we need to ask are many:

  • Can we understand the current needs of the people?
  • Can we make the right assessment of our enemy strengths and weaknesses?
  • Do we have a good apparatus to propagate and collect information?
  • Do we have a funding structure that allows us to carry out our activities?
  • Do we have a logistical structure that allow us to carry out our activities?
  • Do we have the proper structure in place to help new members to join our org?
  • Do we have a proper structure to help creating new cells in places we don't have a base?
  • Do we have a proper and cohesive political line in place? With a concrete practical plan to achieve our objectives?

These are questions that I have been asking myself constantly and trying to reason with other comrades. In my own country, I have been looking for ways to recruit minds that think about solving these nuances and starting serious work, because I know that turbulent years will come regardless of who wins the elections. There is corruption in every level of government, added to a social suffocation of lunatic Christians who want to transform Brazil into a Christian theocracy. They have taken over Congress and want to take over Brazil, it takes the birth of a local revolution and I think that in other countries this time has also come. Time to study, organize and understand the demands of each reality to sustain our struggle.

When conditions are such that revolution looks possible & an apparatus is in place with genuine proletarian support, including as much leadership as possible separate entirely from the bourgeois political class, then I would expect anyone here to be ready to help usher it forth. For now, the thing is to build ties.

Doomerism & faith are equally useless to us, I have to say. Just have to keep at it in all ways that we can.

If you care about your world, you will be constantly thinking of ways to build toward revolution & ways to protect the vulnerable around you from fascism as it festers. Simple as that.

If the world ends, you lost nothing. Might as well fight.

    I totally agree.

In Brazil we are facing difficult days politically. Probably our next president will be a lunatic Trump supporter who wants to auction off our wealth, transform our beaches in Cancun and wants to change our Constitution to stay in power since he has a majority in Congress. We have never been so vulnerable since the Military Dictatorship in 64 and we have never talked so much about a Brazilian communist revolution here. I see great revolts of the working class and students around the world, I feel that a new era of revolutions will come in response to the worldwide growth of fascism. We really need to intensify grassroots work and organize around the world.

The conditions have to be ready for a revolution. If a revolution is too spontaneous revolution it would not work like what happened with Rosa Luxemburg and the German revolution of 1918–1919.

Educating and organizing the working class, so they can mobilize is how a revolution is done. If not enough of the working class is ready, the revolution will never work. Even though capitalism is collapsing, the people are not ready to accept socialism, they simply still want to find reforms to fix capitalism. Socialism will eventually happen, but it takes years of work and organizing to get it to that point.

I agree. But who will raise awareness and mobilize the working masses if not us? I have found it difficult to find people who are not just waiting for the revolution, but preparing the ground to receive it and cultivate it. We need to stop being afraid to talk about Communism, US imperialism cannot silence us. There is a lobby that has been going on for years to demonize socialism, you know, but with the growing reactionary fascist wave, I have seen many new comrades overcoming the fear of the ghost of socialism and waking up to the evil we are facing. We need to keep talking, encouraging, breaking the taboos about socialism. We start with our cycle, family, working friends. There is a lot of work to be done, but it will only be completed if we get out of place.

Been a long time since the last one, I think. But I can't think of any other way to scrub these decaying governments before they cause climate change to kill us. Something is going to occur soon either way.

I think so too. In Brazil there is no other way out, it is revolution or another military dictatorship will devastate us. I cannot say much about other countries, but I see a great movement and dissatisfaction of the working class and students.

The time is always now to be fighting against exploitation. The question of revolution is more about whether a vanguard is capable of sustained confrontation. Waiting around for perfect conditions is a dead-end, but also, readiness alone can only go so far if the material is putting you at an extreme disadvantage. I don't think anybody really knows when the right time is, but interest in it will always be alive in one form or another as long as systemic exploitation is ongoing.

Yeah we need to have a revolution as the goal but with the appropriate sense of priority of in what step we are in the road of revolution to care about the necessary basis for the revolution but without falling into a perpetual immobility that will never progress to revolution when the opportunity arrives

That's it. In my opinion, we should go back to breaking the paradigms that involve socialism by taking advantage of the global political collapse. Solidify and expand the bases, discuss and organize, arm ourselves and dominate the main battlefield that is where bigtechs operate. A digital revolution also needs to happen and for that we need to be prepared. New times, fascism has come in new faces, with even more destructive power.
