Eh, buckle up. Open AI runs out of money in August. First domino in the LLM bubble popping. Those tech companies the only thing keeping the stock market from already looking like a recession. Shits gonna crash

We've been asking "could the next year not be as bad as the last year???" since 2019. But every year has been a little worse.

Following the trend from around about 2001, every year will be a little bit worse than the year before, except for those years that are a lot worse.

2027 shows up with a pickaxe.

    "What? It's not a shovel."

I'm sorry to say, it likely continues getting worse from here. It'll be awhile now before it gets better.

Yup. Anybody that knows anything about history knows that we're all in it deep. How long it takes, though, that's anybody's game. It could be in our lifetimes or our grandchildren's lifetimes. It could even all be over a few years from now - unlikely, but possible.

One thing is for certain, it is going to get worse, much worse, before it gets better.

You don't get to this point and just turn around and never come back. That's like getting bone cancer and then it just disappearing on its own. And right now, it has metastasized in the oval office and all branches of the US government and has been consolidating power across the world, brazenly, for several years, basically unhindered.

Sorry, bubbles gonna pop soon. If anything keep your expectations for next decade, this one's already down the drain.

2027 will probably begin with an insurrection like 2021

This is why ppl gotta stop saying "this year is gonna be my year". Bad things happen. They will continue to happen. What we can do now though? Like Spain, we should be striking. We should be forcing them all out and kicking them out of the country. Plain and simple. Time is an illusion. Action needs to happen now.

We've been saying this since 2020.

It's so freaking sad to watch people finally figure out things are not getting better, not in our lifetimes anyway.

There's a reason these memes have been coming up every year for a while now.

I predict we no longer see this type of meme about 2027 sucking and 2028 better be better. I think we will see some "holy shit 2027" in the first few weeks and after that it won't be much of a joke anymore.

My goal in life is now just to try and live as comfortably as possible, my generation will bear the brunt of what is to come and while we may see the beginnings of improvement we will not see any meaningful results from it, which im fine with tbh so long as things can start going in the right direction sometime in the next 60 years.

This is the way, probably never happen. People have tried organizing over and over without success.

I disagree. They may not have achieved their goals, but they have often achieved a step towards it. Riots for the abolition of work may lead to less working hours and better protection. Stonewall was a riot..stuff for queer folks is far from perfect but has improved a lot in the last decades in many countries.

You can disagree all you want that’s fine and dandy, but America right now won’t rise up and riot against Trump. Atleast enough where it would matter. Too many people can go about their daily lives no matter what, too many dumb people supporting him, too many of everything except people who want to overthrow him.

It's never going to get better in the lifetime of anybody alive today.

Because, if you're in the U.S., it has become strikingly clear that we have a major education/bigotry problem and things don't typically get better when there's a critical level of stupid bigots in a society.

Orange pedo can stop breathing, and that'll be nice, but our issues extend so much further than that.

Hope mycodesucks and I are wrong.

Mamdani is living proof it can improve locally. We just need more of his type to cover the US - which has always been true, local level is the grassroots that form the government. So there is a way, even within the system. It might take a while, but it can be within our lifetimes.

You need an electorate with a certain average intelligence to elect someone like that when the opportunity comes up.

Those with looser morals will more successfully convince the less intelligent they are right. Because they are willing and able to use fear, confusion and hate as tools, which hits a lot harder for the lizard brain than the intelligent brain.

Yeah. So far, I’ve lost loved ones every year since 2023. Two of my best friends, my uncle, our cat and our dog.

My heart can’t take losing any more. I need 2027 to recoup.

The bar is in the basement. Please don't bring a shovel

This reads like something a serial killer would say to his date.

  • 2027 isn't bringing a shovel, it's bringing a backhoe and a jackhammer.

If fascists remain in power, unchecked, then 2027 will be worse than 2026. Then 2028 will be worse than 2027.

    That's how fascism works.

Hope everyone knows what to do between now and November 5th.

Whenever people post these kinds of things (and it's a sentiment I agree with, ofc), I always wonder who's expected to reply/do something about it. It almost sounds like a prayer... but certainly not in my Lemmy, right?! 😉
