I had a hockey game and then came home and ate 5 hot dogs. These things happen.

I'm gonna have quiche salad and potatoes
I am going to make a one pan chicken dish with shishito peppers, anchovy butter, and basil from the yard.
carne asada
Just woke up so haven't eaten yet and going to a party later where there'll be food so don't know what I'll eat today. So here's what I had yesterday:
Homemade vegan Ćevapčići with Bulgur, Ajvar and some random vegetables that needed eating:
Leftovers of the minutal matianum (Roman pork with apples) I prepared for lunch.
I was going to prepare it the past weekend, but things happened, so I did it yesterday.
Update, as I just prepared dinner for today:
.
Tarte Tatin. Or like my folks call it, "tatatã". I'm following Chef John's recipe, with a homemade crust:
pie crust recipe
250g flour
50g sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
125g butter
1 egg yolk
eyeballed amount of ice cold water
- Mix the powders.
- Add butter, in small pieces. Then use a spatula to work them into the flour mix, until the mix is a bunch of small crumbles.
- Whisk the egg yolk with some of the ice cold water. Add it to the mix. Then add just a bit of water each time, until the dough is barely able to stick to itself.
- Put dough in the fridge, wait 30min. Then roll the dough out, using the pie pan as a cutter.
Same thing I have every day because I'm disabled in Amerikkka. Potatoes and butter or cheese. (Cheese when I can afford it, so it's a special treat!)
A double Impossible burger meal from Nexx Burger. It was pretty fucking fantastic after starving most the day.
I'm in the "more month than money left" stage so probably something that's been sitting in the pantry for a while 😅
Lamb ribs, Lebanese rice with vermicelli and haricots verts tonight.
Sibling made dinner, it's their night. It was tortellini with meat sauce with broccoli on the side. It was okay.
I had eggplant salad which is a traditional thing. Confusing name cause it's more like a spread. You slice and fry eggplants until golden brown. Then into the food processor along with 1 clove of garlic, 1 tomato, salt, lemon and 1 spoon of peanut butter.
Traditional where? It sounds interesting! Is there another name for it? (Didn't find anything similar by searching "eggplant salad").
Sounds like a variation of Baba Ghanouj, Lebanese dish. Baba Ghanouj Is made with Tahini instead of peanutbutter.
Sudan. We call it سلطة أسود Salatat Aswad. Aswad means black but we call eggplants that.
I just made hamburger helper (stroganoff, specifically). However, when I went to buy the hamburger, the cheapest thing was a pound of waygu. So that was different. Certainly tasted a bit better than normal. Almost like the beef was seasoned beforehand.
I made this tonight, though I generally go full vegetarian.
Easy as hell to make, and good!
Grapow!
