Didn't leave reddit, instagram and facebook because of AI, but because trump threatened to invade my country. The only american platform I still actively use is youtube.
post
Reddit when it started enforcing ID verification
I came here before AI was a thing. I make new accounts every now and then, but I've been here for years.
Reddit when they started charging exorbitant prices for API access and killed off the third party app ecosystem.
RIP Apollo
one of the bigger waves that came here. i bet the official the reddit app still sucks that bad.
I first migrated when the API price debacle hit, and failed. It just didn't click with me and my ways.
Then later I tried again thanks to the r/buyeuropean movement. I found my app of choice (Summit) and got a hang of things much better with it.
However I still go check reddit every few days due to a handful of small niche subreddits that don't exist here. They are luckily small enough to not be full of bots.
I havenβt used social media for years, as others I came to Lemmy after the Reddit API bullshit
What migrate? This is the internet. I use reddit and Lemmy. Sometimes even in the same day!
The c/Asklemmy AI ridden banner is making the BLOCK COMMUNITY button much sexier.
I had it for a while due to reddit but only transitioned to being a regular user after deleting insta. Insta is defo wayyyyy worse than reddit, for all of reddit's faults
AI didn't cause me to leave any platforms, but I do hide the accounts that just do AI content whenever I find them on YouTube or other social media platforms
All of them!!! (But mostly Reddit. And it was overbearing mods and auto bans that made me seek refugee status more than AI Slop)
