Fuck it I swear. There are no alternatives anymore.

On second thought, let's not go to Proton. 'Tis a silly place.

So glad I never fell into the proton trap.

Cool. So in a year or so we'll see news about a massive security breach across all their products.

Guess I now get to start hunting for another secure email, thankfully that's the only product I used daily.

I ended up going with Tuta personally when I started looking around to degoogle. It's also not US-based which is a positive.

Looks like they're developing a drive-like suite as well? Might have to switch ...

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how that compares to some alternatives on the market.

Monolithic companies seem to all enshittify rather quickly these days as they expand.Proton seems to just be the latest.

    1. Starting to go all in and force AI usage.
    2. Back to office mandates.
    3. And most importantly their CEO supporting fascists, berating employees, and dismissing basic security concerns (like pentesting AI code changes before pushing to prod).

In my process of degoogling, I ended up making a Koofr drive a few months now, and while I haven't moved everything over yet from Google, I have been using their even more encrypted Vault. Storing stuff that I want to have an additional level of security on. Things like 2FA recovery tokens, bypass passwords, etc. that I don't need to access basically ever, but I don't want to risk losing either.

So that's an alternative to Drive you might want to take a look at as well. Also EU-based, and GDPR compliant. Apps available for everything, plus official WebDAV and Rclone support.

Really wasn't too hype about their email but I did like their VPN service and no log policy. Any recommendations for similar VPN service?

I’m on Mullvad too. No complaints apart from one of the founders used his own money to contribute to a right wing organisation. Mullvad themselves have said that it doesn’t represent them or their values, and he didn’t use Mullvad funds (well, unless you count that he got that money from his investment in Mullvad) but it’s worth noting.

I use mailbox.org for email and calendar, and Surfshark VPN
