Firefly. I thought I could stomach sci-fi but I find it unwatchable for personal reasons. I wish I could but it's not for me.
it only had 1 season, definitely wouldve been able to see the scope if it had mroe season.
Andor. It feels so different and it is interesting because it builds the empire, but somehow it just felt too different. I watched a video essay about it recently, where the essayist made the point that he loves it for being more serious and darker in tone than most other Star Wars Media. I wonder if seen through this lens I'd enjoy it more during a rewatch.
post-disney buyout STar wars isnt that good.
Any and all "reality" TV.
reality has always been trash, and they cancelled shows just so they can have that slop because it brings in the lowest common denominators.
I fully don't get why people like that. It looks mean and dull and it's not even reality. The sexy ones also look like a shit stand-in for actual porn.
they actively hire models, or attractive people on purpose. and many of them post show career, ends up as mlm, or worst on trumps administration, and of course porn too, sometimes they are pornstars before.
Andor season 2, doesn’t catch on after 4 episodes. Done with it.
Severance. So. Goddamn. Slow.
I felt the same. I also think that we viewers have so much more information than the characters... so even though there's mystery, we see the mysteries coming like 2 full episodes in advance. Yawn
Totally. I enjoy the premise of the show, but the delivery is sleep-inducing.
Buffy Supernatural Smallville The Arrowverse stuff
I dunno man. I just couldn't get into the serialized urban fantasy pretty people vs monster of the week genre, even thought it feels like it should be right up my ally. I used to play a TON of V:tM and WW:tA, and Im all about camp and community theater energy. I liked some of the other Whedon stuff at the time, like Firefly. And I'm a life long fan of all things super heroes and I even respect Arrowverse from a far for its commitment to its status as a multimedia project (before the MCU, even).
More recently, some similarly themed shows have been made and I got into them way more; What We Do In The Shadows and Stan Against Evil, and I think maybe the magic sauce was that I would have liked the energy paired something less earnest and more tongue in cheek. All of these shows also had the issue of really annoying fandoms. Its probably the reason I couldn't lower my hackles around Doctor Who.
i think buffy is good for its time, but not post 2000s. Supernatural got wierd after 5th season, basically when kripke left the new showrunners decided to play into the parasocial fantasies of the fans and it made it all sexual and homo-erotic. i believe at one point (season 6) death threats were made against some of the guest cast(the ones that was dating DEAN in the show) and they couldnt come back. and you can see why how they act(the fans) when jensen ackles and jared does all these Conventions still. that is the reason why it continued for like 10 more years, past its lifespan. although there is at least 1 or 2 seasons (8 and 11)that were better than the rest.
smallville was intersting origin for superman, but if you look at all the superman/supergirl show that came out since then, its superior to those. michael rosenbaum was is a good lex luthor, but he gave up on the show at some point.
That's too bad about Buffy, it really grows into something very unique. It's also pretty much the originator of that horror/comedy genre, and one of the first serialized prime time shows, along with X-Files.
Big bang theory. Cannot stand the characters on that show, especially Sheldon
I mean, this is Lemmy, it's a show about making fun of us.
And honestly I'd respect that if they put effort into it, but "lol nerd" is like 90% of the plot.
Silicon Valley also makes fun of nerds, but it's for nerds. BBT just made nerds the butt of the joke.
The best concise description of that show I've heard was "it's what people who aren't nerds think nerds would like".
To be fair, the scene where Penny gifts Sheldon something like the glass Leonard Nimoy drank out of, for Christmas, had me crying with laughter. That's about it, though.
Edit: The napkin he used, and then signed with a note.
i remember the sub that was discussing big ban theory how they turned penny into a stem professional into a total "bimbo" by the end of the series.
I remember watching the pilot for the show, I was like, "oh this could be refreshing away from the stupidity of the rest of tv!". I was already onto anime by that point and had entirely stopped watching cable.
But no. Apparently, when the actual show started airing, it was EXACTLY as you describe, and a massive disappointment. Xbox and bad quips and trying to get girls? Absolutely not.
That show is literally trash.
When Sheldon says "Bazinga" I throw 10 metric tonnes of popcorn at the screen. Funniest thing I've ever seen /s
Buffy.
It was just a big sloppy plateful of Beverly Hills, 90210 with a small side salad of weird shit.
Firefly. Amatuerish acting and plots that barely reached "Atomic Rifle" levels of sophistication don't really sit well with me.
My this question certainly comes up very often on here doesn't it.
