Am I the only one bothered by the gun not fitting in the book?

[–] Tungsten5@lemm.ee 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

No, you’re not alone. But simple solution: disassemble the hand gun and put it in there. You can make it fit. When they come for you, dont worry. They will wait for you to reassemble it no problem

[–] bluewing@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No, you ain't going to disassemble that revolver to make it smaller. That frame and barrel ain't coming apart without a proper barrel wrench and heavy vise or cutting torch....

So you either need a small revolver or a much bigger book.

[–] Tungsten5@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No, its okay. Just cut the metal if it doesn't fit. When you reassemble I suggest using super glue. It has worked like a charm for me in the past

[–] bluewing@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I never like the glue line though.

[–] Tungsten5@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

A true super glue master never leaves lines behind

[–] redsand@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

Or my solution. Hide it in an old CompTIA book. Big enough, no loss and DOGE proves it's safe

[–] n7gifmdn@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago

no, it bothered me when I first saw it. Took me a week to get over it before I could post it here.

How to keep Dems from stealing your guns? Basic packaging 101.

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

It's because of perceptions capabilities of MAGAs

That's the one book on basic economics they might actually read though. Fuck thomas sowell

[–] n7gifmdn@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago
[–] davel@lemmy.ml 22 points 1 month ago

Reading Thomas Sowell is like lead poisoning your brain, so this checks out.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sowell though... what a crank

[–] andrewrgross@slrpnk.net 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

This meme doesn't work because a conservative literally bought me a copy of that book and it's infantile.

This book is titled "Basic Economics" because Sowel is a troll, and the economics in his book are largely correct but incomplete to the point of misinforming people. This is an incredibly "conservative" book through-and-through.

It's correct in a bourgeois friendly way, in that it aligns with existing liberal economics. The problem is immediately apparent upon reading liberal economics, though, as invariably there is a distinct urge towards the futility of study, or the supernatural benefits of market mechanics above all. Bourgeois economists are closer to priests justifying the unrestrained tyranny of Capital over Man, when its the historic duty of the proletariat to wrest that control back and firmly reign in Capital, to be bent to our will. We must know more, learn the unlearned, know the unknown, to do so. Marx was the first to truly completely take on such a task.

Sowell is just one such priest, an especially useful one in that he is allegedly ex-Marxist. This combination of "abandoning leftist economics for real economics" results in quite a common book to throw in the faces of those that get too uppity towards the status quo.

[–] andrewrgross@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

He is a former Marxist?? I find that bewildering, hilarious, and doubtful.

I think it's great when people have open enough minds to radically rethink their beliefs, but I hope I'm never so brainrotted as to somehow strawman my own former beliefs.

[–] superniceperson@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

He wanted money and the adoration of old white people more than improving anyone's life.

I usually support people's fetishes but I do think he took his a bit too far. Raceplay should end when it starts affecting literal Congress.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

Pretty sure it's either one big grift, or he was never much of a Marxist in the first place.

"What is economy? A science invented by the bourgeoisie to get the fruits of the working class labour. " Strindberg

Not American and out of the loop, is MAGA threatening to take people's guns??? Didn't have that one on my bingo card, I thought MAGA held access to guns in higher regard than access to water.

[–] n7gifmdn@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

they want to keep THEIR guns, but you shouldn't have a gun. If you aren't the right kind of American the second amendment doesn't apply to you. Remember the first gun law the U.S. ever had was one to keep freed slaves from owning one.

[–] Tungsten5@lemm.ee 0 points 1 month ago

Wow. This is not the rights sentiment at all

[–] TheOubliette@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Right wingers love Sowell tho

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

Right wings and using a book is an oximoron, they have an assault rifle in a holder on the back window of their trucks.

Love me some Marx! Capital is surprisingly the opposite of dry, though it is dense.

[–] LMDNW@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The best way to stop MAGA from seizing your guns is to use them when they come for them. One of them might eventually get them, but the first 10 won’t!

[–] helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Until they ban that book for an obscure reference about "poor people saving money" and take it away.

Best off hiding them in "Bible - Abridged version heavily filtered by old white men to only include passages convenient for youth indoctrination and reinforcing raciest and homophobic ideology." .

[–] OldManBOMBIN@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

This is very dangerous!!!! They will likely burn these books, causing the rounds to discharge. Loose bullets are mostly harmless, but the ones in the cylinder, and any round that is firmly supported from the back, pose a pretty serious threat. Especially if full-metal jacketed.

Wait actually if they burn the books, they will be the ones in danger. So I guess it's ok as long as you aren't the one burning books.

[–] Faydaikin@beehaw.org 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I thought books was the thing they like to ban?!

Of cause I do believe it's mostly children's books, but still...

Capitalist Economics*

[–] MrWafflesNBacon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Honestly I like this idea

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Unlearning Economics is this you?

[–] fibojoly@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

Could probably use a Bible from the way things are. Doubt they actually ever open those.
