It's a micro-transactions store with a game built around it. Knowing EA they'll probably throw their rootkit anti-cheat in to assure investors that "hackers" won't get anything for free.
I curious why it need anti cheat for single player game. This not single player?
Otherwise you could get the microtransactions for free!
I dunno if it has a single player mode but everything we've seen of the game so far shows it heavily multiplayer focused.
Also if the names the part confusing you. This isn't a port of the original Skate game, it's a reboot.

Yeah, at this point I assume they just want to choose awful names to garner attention, but damn, this just makes me think someone typoed.
I want to think that they were gonna name it something like "skate!", but then it was really shitty or something, so someone sneakily renamed it "skate." at the last second
Its a modern EA game so nothing of value is lost by not playing garbage.
No worries, they'll eventually launch it and it'll run at a piss-poor 1 decade per frame on even the highest end hardware for the gameplay, but the microtransaction storefront will run at 3000000000000000FPS with zero bugs whatsoever.
Remember all the trailers for Battlefield V, and that got support for I think 2 years. This has even less trailers, so my bets are less than 2 years of support.
Reading these sentences is making my brain aneurysm WHY IS THERE A PERIOD IN THE NAME
Not only that but it also intentionally starts with a lower case s. It's almost like it's purposefully engineered to be as irritating a title as possible.
Not only that but it's actually the fourth game in the series yet they didn't call it skate.4.
Not like this game was worth a damn anyway. Better off emulating 2 or 3.
THPS works just great though.
Even the original Skate games can be played through RPCS3 if you got a beefy PC.
I played the original Skate via a 360 emulator on the steam deck and it ran perfectly fine so I don't think you even really need a mad PC setup. It did push the deck to its Max though!

What the fuck is skate.? And why should anyone care.?
The Skate franchise started on PS3 (don't remember if it was on other platforms) and was basically a more "realistic" skateboard game where instead of just using button combos, you were able to do tricks with the analog controls of the DualShock3 controllers. People really enjoyed the first 3 games. This is a reboot, but with the severe downturn EA has taken over the last 10+ years, I wouldn't really bother putting too much hope in it being good.

I could have sworn there was something like that a long time ago but maybe not for ps 2 and it might have been snowboarding not skateboarding... hard to say since my memory is kind of fuzzy
Was it supposed to be? I just assume by default a lot of games don't officially support Linux.
Linux? No. Proton, yes, unless they are using kernel-level anticheat like Apex
